The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has postponed the state caucus meeting in Calabar where it was to formally confirm the four aspirants which the 7-man pruning committee headed by former Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba recommended.
The party leadership had inaugurated the committee with a mandate to prune the 17 aspirants to manageable numbers within 72 hours to enable it settle for its flagbearer for next year’s gubernatorial election.
The APC state caucus meeting was to be held at The Peregrino, official residence of the governor by evening hours.
However, in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Erasmus Ekpang, the meeting was cancelled abruptly.
“The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State chapter regrets to announce that the proposed state caucus meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled.
“A new date for the state caucus meeting will be communicated soon.
“However, the local government caucus can be rescheduled for tomorrow or as it is agreed with various chapter chairmen.
“Sorry for the inconveniences the cancellation of the state caucus meeting might have caused you all.”
